MAISON BARBÈS
Paris · Montmartre
The first boutique hotel in a newly sought-after Paris neighbourhood: in 2020, the booming district of Barbès, in the 18th arrondissement, welcomed its first luxury hotel, Maison Barbès.

Located on rue Bervic, Maison Barbès is perfectly placed, a few steps from the Gare du Nord, Montmartre, the Sacré-Cœur and the Moulin Rouge.
Its sophisticated design — lush colours, bold patterns, glamorous vintage furniture — pays tribute to the neighbourhood’s past and draws on its surroundings, such as the Louxor cinema, an Art Deco masterpiece.

Once a historic site of the Paris Commune uprising, Barbès — and its much-debated gentrification — is today one of the liveliest and most “bobo” (bourgeois-bohemian) neighbourhoods in Paris.
Local and visiting sartorialists browse Vogue-approved vintage shops, explore the markets and colourful cuisine, and dine with the fashion pack in local bistros and the cultural melting pot that made Barbès famous.

When the two entrepreneurs behind the hotel, Gaëtan Chebrou and Jonathan Anguelov, saw the potential of the neighbourhood, they wanted the House’s design and philosophy to be steeped in its rich history while embracing the vibrant culture that drives it today.
The hotel exudes the classic elegance and sophistication of a palace, with a design inspired by the history of Barbès and of Paris as a whole. Some of the furniture comes from the flea market; the kitchen favours local food markets and nearby producers.
